Welcome to “Vibrant Expressions,” an exciting and new painting class that explores our own intuitive expressions with color. This class is not your typical color theory and mixing class. This class is an artistic adventure where you will immerse yourself in the emotional and cultural dimensions of color, discovering the unique ways in which each hue can evoke feelings and tell stories for you.
Course Highlights
- Each class is set around one color of the rainbow and begins with a little dive into the rich cultural history of the chosen color. From the symbolism in ancient civilizations to its contemporary significance, you will gain insights that will add depth and meaning to your artistic expressions.
- The second part of the class is a hands-on painting experience where you can explore how to use the color on canvas and how it makes you feel. We each have our own histories and stories that bring uniqueness to how we use color in art. By breaking down our work and only using one color (or range of color), we can further explore how we personally engage with different hues.
- This class is not only about learning about the history and cultural significance of different colors, but also about uncovering your own personal connections between color and mood, and how these can be harnessed to convey your unique artistic voice.
One 10×10″ canvas and sample paints to explore with are included. Each participant should bring their own paint set and brushes. A paint kit is also available to purchase with your class reservation.

Registration Policies
Advanced registration required; attendance is limited. Purchase tickets below. Tickets are non-refundable and nontransferable two weeks prior to class. Please call the office at 916.452.3005 if you are not able to purchase tickets online or, if registration has closed as seats may still be available.
About Instructor Cara Gregor
Cara Gregor is the artist behind Cara Emilia specializing in painting, illustration, and handmade jewelry. Cara is a self-taught, intuitive, artist living in Sacramento, California with her husband, Benjamin, and her little dog, Jacques Cousteau. Her work is inspired by bright colors (sometimes neon… most of the time at least a little pop of neon), bold, organic composition, nature, yoga, and adventures exploring this amazing planet. She aims to bring joy to others with her intuitive process, hoping to make this world just a bit brighter, a bit lighter, and much more fun.
