“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

What do you like most about your job?

Every day is a new day! Customer service is a huge aspect of my role here at Sierra 2. I am the first person you see as you walk into the main office. I enjoy meeting potential renters and walking them through the process of renting here, giving them a tour of our facility and getting to know them.

What is your favorite Sierra 2/ SCNA event?

Curtis Fest. Love seeing all the great art that people display.

What is your favorite space at Sierra 2 Center?

Personally the Curtis Hall Courtyard. When the weather allows, you will find me eating my lunch on one of the benches under the pergola.

What is your hobby?

I love to garden and eat what we plant. Big fan of the local farmers markets. I dabble in succulents and have some great arrangements around the house, along with my roses. I’m a creative soul – I work with glass beads to make lamp shades and bead dangles. When time permits, I refinish old furniture.

What do you like most about your job?

I like that we’re given the opportunity to touch people’s lives in very personal ways. Just as many renters have, I myself have hosted my own events such as a family reunion, baby and bridal showers, farewell parties and even my father’s Celebration of Life here. Through the years I’ve made many lasting friendships among SCNA members, our clientele, tenants and my co-workers. I’ve seen a lot of changes to the Center over the years that I’m proud to be a part of.

What is your favorite Sierra 2/ SCNA event?

The Wine Tasting event is always a fun day…great food, beverages and lots of happy people!

What is your favorite space at Sierra 2 Center?

Obviously, I love our theater! I also love the Garden Room and its attached courtyard. I agree wholeheartedly with first time visitors who say that the facility has a “special energy and a good vibe”

What is your hobby?

Genealogy! I’ve traced some of my family lines as far back as the 800’s. It’s a never ending hobby as new branches of the tree open up. It’s fun to meet and make friends with new cousins thru our mutual research.

I also enjoy cooking and creating my own recipes as well as trying new dishes from around the world!

Valerie, our Facility Administrator, manages the rentals of the Theater and the monthly on-going classes and meetings in the studios and activity rooms. She writes and updates the Viewpoint newspaper and website pages for Activities, Theater, Learnery and Senior Center. Valerie started as an Office Administrator in June 2004 but has held numerous titles at Sierra 2 such as Assistant Director, interim Executive Director, Program and Senior Coordinators and Operations Manager.

“She’s a dreamer, a doer, and a thinker. She sees possibility everywhere.”

Heather is our Marketing & Outreach Coordinator. She runs the website, social media, and email newsletters. She also creates most of the printed posters and event marketing materials.

“No Grit.
No Pearl.”

What do you like most about your job?

Bringing people together and building community through arts and activities. I love to write grants to create art and nature around the center like the Kaleidoscope sculpture in the Curtis Hall courtyard by Dan Tran and the Native Plant Garden at the front entrance.

What is your favorite Sierra 2/ SCNA event?

Curtis Fest all the way. I love working with artists and spending the day in the park.

What is your favorite space at Sierra 2 Center?

I like the hallways. I like to pass people and peek into the rooms to see what’s going on.

What is your hobby?

I like to make art and take on home improvement projects. I love to travel.
