With the holidays coming up, a good place to start shopping is the Holiday Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Sierra 2 Center. This annual event is a great way to support local artisans and crafters in our region. Plus, it’s an excellent opportunity to find gifts.
Returning artisans and new faces will join to offer handmade jewelry, soaps, ceramics, and fiber arts, items for the home and garden, and more. Fresh coffee and hot cider from Espresso Metro will be available to attendees.
Newton Booth Builds will return with its hand-crafted wood goods, including its stylish California state-shaped bottle openers. Co-owners/craftsmen Nils Reid and David Goreau are passionate about making quality, sustainable products with locally sourced and recycled wood. Potter Dania Lukey will return with her ceramic bowls, cups and vases in polka dots and natural designs.
New vendors include Joe Triglia of Tufarock Design, bringing his succulents planted in unique vessels and hypertufa pottery. Brandi and Brian Woods, owners of Driftwoods Clothing, will also join the vendors. They are known for their luxuriously soft and trendy shirts displaying neighborhood pride for Curtis Park, Land Park, Midtown and others. The couple also creates tea towels and tote bags, which make great stocking stuffers.
All proceeds from this event benefit the Sierra 2 Senior Center and its programs. The Senior Center plans to expand many of its popular offerings and add to its current activities in 2018. The Senior Center will continue offering relevant and much needed technology classes through its partnership with Bit Fellowship. Similarly, the Wellness Program continues to be a popular program for fitness activities. Participants can expect to see an increase in classes offered in the next 12 months.
Admission to the Craft Fair is free, and families are welcome. Free parking is available in the lots accessed from Fourth Avenue and Castro Way as well as street parking along Fourth Avenue and 24th Street.
