The name Rocky Raku was bestowed upon Laurie Kneppel by a good friend and fellow Beatle-maniac, when Laurie was firing pots and tiles depicting the Fab Four using the Western raku method.
Today, Laurie mainly makes high-fired functional pottery fired in a gas kiln, but sometimes dabbles in sculpture. And of course, some of it is raku-fired.
All her functional pottery is safe in the dishwasher and okay in the microwave. The pie and brie bakers are oven-safe and ceramic ware encourages a beautiful golden pie crust.
The 13th Annual Curtis Fest will feature over 75 local artisans under the beautiful canopy of trees at Curtis Park. Artists and makers include painters, sculptors, textile artists, and wood workers. Live music, food trucks, a kids Zone and a pet refreshment station makes this a great way to finish out the summer.
This free event is open to the public and followed by Music in the Park. Come to our free event to support local artists, bring a picnic blanket and chairs to sit on while you watch the musicians or eat your food truck tasties from Kados Asian Grill, Masa Giuseria, Portu-goal Street Food or Cowtown Creamery.
A big thanks to our sponsors Steffan Brown Realty, Renewal by Andersen, Capitol Optometry, Grateful Dog, St. Hope Public Schools, AT&T, and Farm Fresh to You for helping to make the fair possible.
