Libby Harmor is a ceramic artist among other things.
Libby has been working with shredded money since the mid 90’s. She recently discovered that window screen is the perfect canvas. The holes in the screen are 1/16th of an inch high, the perfect size. It takes about an hour per square inch to create the weavings. A lot of that time is spent digging through a mass of shredded money to find the right strips. Each strip is 1/16th inch wide and 6 1/8th inches long.
The money has been shredded by the US Treasury so it’s legal.
As Auntie Libby of the Crafty Aunties she works with children encouraging creativity. For the last 25 years she has run a workshop for ceramic artists and has been designing costumes for local theater companies. From 2005 to 2010 Libby has worked for the Effie Yeaw Nature Center building museum exhibits. She lives with two cats in a former church in the country. The chickens and ducks and sheep live outside.
The 13th Annual Curtis Fest will feature over 75 local artisans under the beautiful canopy of trees at Curtis Park. Artists and makers include painters, sculptors, textile artists, and wood workers. Live music, food trucks, a kids Zone and a pet refreshment station makes this a great way to finish out the summer.
This free event is open to the public and followed by Music in the Park. Come to our free event to support local artists, bring a picnic blanket and chairs to sit on while you watch the musicians or eat your food truck tasties from Kados Asian Grill, Masa Giuseria, or Cowtown Creamery.
