Teach Through The Wellness Program

The Sierra 2 Center’s Wellness Program, is geared toward managing and enriching the fitness and health activities offered through the Sierra 2 Senior Center.

How the Program Works

Interested students can participate in activities by either purchasing a 10-class punch card for $80, a 5-class punch card for $45 or by paying a $10 drop-in fee at the start of a class. Cards are purchased prior to class in the Sierra 2 Center office. Purchasing a punch card is highly encouraged—as card holders will receive a discount on the class fee ($7-8 per class instead of $10) and they won’t need to
remember to carry cash or checks with them. At the start of each class, instructors track attendance, mark cards, and collect drop-in fees (if any). After each class, instructors turn in their attendance sheets and any money collected to the Senior Center office. Punch cards expire after 4 months, to encourage class attendance.

Wellness Program activities are structured in a way that allows participants to drop-in to the activity as their schedule allows. Participants don’t need to sign up for month-long sessions.

Instructors are paid per class, with the rate of pay based on class attendance. Instructors will receive $40/class with 11 or more students, $30 per class with 1- 10 students, and $15 per class with zero students. Attendance totals include both punch card holders and walk-in participants.

The Sierra 2 Center is responsible for registrations and promoting the Wellness Program through a variety of mediums such as our monthly Viewpoint newspaper, flyers, email newsletters and on our social media accounts.
