Cartoonist and art teacher become tenants at Sierra 2

Sierra 2 is happy to introduce two new members of the tenant family at the Center.

Comic book designer, Eben Burgoon

In August, comic book designer, Eben Burgoon, moved into the smaller of the two spaces upstairs in Room 16A. Eben has published the comic books B-Squad, Volume 1 and 2 and is working on Volume 3. He is often found making sculptures out of tape, known as Tapagami, with his best friend, Danny Scheible, who grew up on Fourth Avenue. To cultivate his craft and to get ideas, Eben often visits schools to teach comic book writing and drawing classes. He also sports an amazing beard.

Cate the Funmaker

The other addition is Cate Schmiedt, or Cate the Funmaker, occupying the Sierra House Cottage. Cate moved into the cottage in mid-September, envisioning the space as an ‘“art gym/ co-creation space.” Her specialty is encaustic painting but shares her talent in other media by teaching beginner classes with The Learnery. Her first class was a well-attended Drawing 101. There are plans to add embroidery, sewing, bookbinding and printing classes.

Welcome Cate and Eben!
