Artists who belonged to Matrix, an original tenant of Sierra 2, are planning a reunion and show in July at the Kondos Gallery at Sacramento City College. Their art works will be on display from July 6 to July 31. The reunion and open reception will be from 4-8 p.m. July 20 at the gallery. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday, free admittance.
A documentary film about the women’s art group will also be shown July 20 at a private reception, but can be seen on the film maker Hui-chun Chung’s website, www.huichunchung.com/new-page.
A second show of their work will take place at the SMUD gallery from July 14 to Sept. 11. Its reception will be from 4:30–6 p.m. July 13. The SMUD Gallery is at 6301 S St. (near 65th Street). Gallery hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m. weekdays. Free.
Matrix member Marty Renault, formerly of Rochon Way and now of Monterey, said the group has rounded up 25 former members who will have work in the two shows. Also attending the reunion is Judy Schroeter, formerly of 26th Street at Marshall Way and now a Portland, Ore. resident. She was the first director of Matrix and later the first director of Sierra 2. Both of them plan to attend the reunion.
