Become a Board Member

Board members are made up of neighborhood volunteers. There are wide arrays of activities that you can participate in as a Board member. You can help with fundraising events such as the annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction or Home Tour, write articles for the Viewpoint and participate in Advocacy work on behalf of the neighborhood. To find out how to become a board member by contacting us at info@sierra2.org.

Become a Viewpoint Distributor

The Viewpoint is the free neighborhood newspaper of the Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association, published since 1979. Our 10 monthly issues each year are written and delivered by neighborhood residents. To become a volunteer Viewpoint distributor, please call Gerre at 451-9610.

The SCNA boundaries: Highway 99 on the east; Interstate 80 on the north; Freeport Boulevard south of Fourth Avenue/the Union Pacific railroad tracks north of Fourth Avenue on the west; Sutterville Road on the south.

Volunteers Needed for Filming

The My Story Project at the Sierra 2 Senior Center films the life stories from older adults and produces a DVD to share with their family and friends. The presentations are organized with the help of a “story coach” who works with the star of the video. Other volunteers operate the camera equipment, set up lights and backgrounds, and finally edit the video with photos integrated into the DVD. Additional volunteers are sought to help with this project, especially those with MAC computer experience. Please contact the Senior Center at 455-6339 for more information.

Become an Intern

Interns can learn about all facets of running a non-profit community center from marketing, event planning, and facilities management to grant writing, finances, and advocacy. Commitments are flexible and customizable. Arrangements for school credit is possible. Contact info@sierra2.org or use the form below.

Volunteer at Events

SCNA hosts over 10 events a year both at the Sierra 2 Center and Curtis Park.  There is always a need for volunteers for groups and individuals of all kinds.  Many volunteer needs come with the opportunity to promote a business, program or cause and allow networking with a wide variety of attendees.  As a non profit students can use volunteer hours to fulfill their community service requirements.  Interested individuals can use the form below to hear about volunteer opportunities.
