Landscape Artist Jennifer Beckman’s Paintings to Show in Bungalow on Home Tour

Local artist Jennifer Beckman’s colorful landscape paintings will grace the walls of a pre WWI bungalow on the Curtis Park Home Tour.  Her work will be available to purchase. Before she began a professional career in landscape design, Jennifer Beckman was a successful landscape painter, showing and selling her work at several Bay Area galleries following a successful career in Maine. She has recently resumed painting and showing her work in the Sacramento area. Acrylic gouache originals and giclee prints.

Artist Statement

My love of jazz influences my work as much as anything else. While painting I try to express the lyricism and freedom of a jazz musician exploring the relationship between improvisation and structure. Neither purely abstract nor totally realistic, my landscape work explores the poetry between the two. It is this relationship between light and dark, order and disorder, the expected and the unexpected, harmony and dissonance that interests me. It is as if my paintings are emblems of places we have all seen and loved, images of places we keep deep in our memories, but can’t quite find again. My paintings, like music, are about a felt but not ultimately tangible reality. They are an exploration of the difference between what is and what could be.

About the Home & Garden Tour

Homeowners and gardeners in lovely Curtis Park are getting ready to present the annual Spring home and garden tour. The event is presented by the Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association with proceeds benefiting the Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community and neighborhood programs.

This year’s tour is set for Saturday, April 28th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Throughout the day people from the greater Sacramento area will enjoy strolls under leafy canopies while viewing five homes in various styles from Tudor to Craftsman. Interiors range from contemporary to classic. Several unique gardens will be featured from entertaining spaces to flower and vegetable gardens and drought tolerant landscapes.
