Curtis Fest Artisan Spotlight: Heather Hogan of Tenacious Goods

Wouldn’t it be funny if…

Wouldn’t it be funny if…” is how most of my projects start. If you have a vivid dream about a pancake doing something that pancakes don’t do – you will think differently about your breakfast. When your perception shifts, it might make you chuckle, or perhaps, reconsider your opinion.”

Through collage, printmaking, cyanotype, ink and paint, Heather assembles stories and memories to amuse and delight. Her love of art solidified by 3rd grade with a first prize ribbon at the county fair for my masterpiece in glue and chalk – a macaw. She earned a BA in studio art, new media (meaning digital arts) from CSU Chico. After a stint in San Diego animating for Starfall, trips to Europe, Thailand, and Burning Man, she settled in Sacramento. Heather teaches illustration and Web design at Sacramento City College, makes websites, and every day – with passion and love –  makes art.

About Curtis Fest

Curtis Fest returns to William Curtis Park on Sunday, Aug. 27. More than 60 artisans are expected to show their work at the 11th annual event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the north end of the park under the beautiful tree canopy. Curtis Fest has become a Sacramento favorite, and many premier artists have joined the lineup this year.

This free, public event includes food from award winning chef Keith Breedlove of the Culinerdy Cruzer food truck along with delicious street tacos from the Turnt Up food truck. John Merriman, Dianna and the Cherry Kings and the Ranell Carpenter Band will perform.

An expanded petting zoo returns this year as well as the climbing station, and the children’s fairy. Curtis Fest will be followed by Music in the Park from 6-8 p.m.
