This is an introduction the practice of Tai Chi which has benefits of improving balance, posture, and endurance in addition to helping ease both anxiety and depression.
In this class, students will learn basic fundamental movements of Tai Chi and learn an adapted form based on a yang style (Cheng Man-chi’ng 37 movement) form. A typical class might consist of warmups, basic moves, form practice, and a short standing meditation to bring in a deeper awareness and give time for reflection. Each student is encouraged to listen to their own body and adjust movements as needed. No experience necessary. This class is for suitable for beginners and also those with more experience who want to learn and practice the breakdown of essential movements within more complex Tai Chi forms.
About the instuctor:
Angela Noorda has practiced qi gong and tai chi for seven years, including detailed training from Daniel Pfister and teacher training classes from TaiChiHealth. She finds so many benefits of the practice including reduced stress and anxiety, less pain, and improved flexibility. She also has 20 years of yoga experience, including 200-hr yoga teacher training in hatha yoga. Angela teaches classes for beginners who want to start with simple movements and work to more complex movements, and she also teaches more advanced students who want to learn the more complex Cheng Man-chi’ng 37 movement form.
