Sacramento Sword School

March 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Thursday, repeating indefinitely

This class focuses on the study of traditional and historical European sword combat of the 16th through 19th centuries. Students study period manuals for historical knowledge and perspective, and use their collective fencing, martial arts, research, and teaching experience to bring these arts to life.

The Sacramento Sword School practices both martial and sporting forms of swordsmanship, but only ones that are fairly close in nature, which means that their material does not extend into the modern Olympic sport.

Their philosophy is that they do this out of interests in history, swordsmanship, sports, martial arts, and fun. They are not interested in teaching a potentially dangerous martial art to someone who is going to misuse it. Also, they are not a reenactor group, although many of the instructors are reenactors with other groups. The Sacramento Sword School is about swords and how to use them.

Class meets Thursdays from 6:15-8:15pm. Classes are $50 per month.
