Remember Isobel Movie Screening
January 17 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us on Thursday, January 17 at 7:30p for a local feature film created to raise funds for and awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease.
Director/Writer Sarah Barbulesco-Lamb first conceived of the idea to write a story about Alzheimer’s in the Fall of 2009. After bearing witness to the attentive and loving care her grandfather gave to her grandmother in her dissent into Alzheimer’s, Barbulesco-Lamb felt it was essential to educate the public about the disease as well as contribute to funds for research. Alzheimer’s currently affects nearly six million people in the United States alone and is predicted to reach epidemic levels by 2030. While most are diagnosed in their senior years, symptoms of early-onset Alzheimer’s can appear as young as the age of thirty. Regardless of the age of the afflicted, Alzheimer’s is a disease of the family, as loved ones must bear witness to the slow loss of a person they treasure.
REMEMBER ISOBEL tells the story of the Martin-Bailey family as they struggle to deal with the loss of their beloved grandmother Isobel to Alzheimer’s. All her life, lead character Cathryn Bailey (Mia Altieri) has seen herself as lucky. Her loving wife Helen Martin (Elise Hodge) has been by her side for eighteen years, helping her to raise their sons, Patrick (Cohl Kenneth Klop) and Ryan (Kaleb Horvath). Cate’s mother Isobel (Scarlet O’Connor) has been a key participant in every major moment of Cate’s life. No matter what, Isobel has always found a way to lift her daughter up and instill a sense of indomitable strength in her family. When Isobel is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s though, her ability to fulfill her role as matriarch and caregiver begins to unravel, and Cate suddenly finds herself struggling to care for everyone. Helen, the boys, Cate’s brothers…everyone tries to find a way to help Cate with Isobel but, in the end, no one knows how to let this magnificent woman go. All they can do is love the person that remains in the wake of this treacherous disease and always REMEMBER ISOBEL.
Tickets are $15 at the door, $12 in advance. Please call (530) 400-7619 to purchase tickets.
