For over 25 years Sacramento Irish Folk Dance (formerly the Sacramento Irish American Ceili Dancers) has been teaching ceili and set dancing in the Sacramento region.
Ceili and set dancing are forms of Irish folk dance that are low-impact and done in groups. These are the traditional dances that would have been done at weddings and other parties in Ireland. As such, they are fairly simple and it’s possible for most beginners to pick up a dance within one class.
They have a rotating panel of teachers who each provide a different insight into Ireland’s folk dance tradition. From jigs to reels to hornpipes, they do it all!
They encourage everyone to try out their classes! The class format is casual–you do not have to sign up for any type of commitment. It is recommended that dancers wear comfortable shoes and bring water, but the classes are not strenuous and each dance can be modified to the fit the fitness level of each dancer. You do not need to bring a partner but are welcome to. Children are welcome.
They can’t wait to dance with you!
