Get your feet wet in this watercolor basics course with local artist Tonja Wilcox! This tutorial is perfect for beginners and novice painters. We’ll talk about recommended supplies, basic color theory, and techniques to get you started. We’ll explore color mixing both in the palette and on paper (without making mud). You’ll finish up by painting your own tree shape.
Students will take home practice sheets and 1 small finished piece. All materials are provided.
Watercolor paint generally has a translucent quality, which is great for ethereal or emotive effects. Blending colors is fun, and you can also layer imagery so that what is underneath shows through. Watercolors are generally more affordable than some other paint mediums and are lightweight for easy transporting. This workshop will arm you with the tips & tricks to maximize your watercolor experience.
