HWY 99 Public Art Engagement Meeting #1

October 24 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Caltrans District 3 is collaborating with several community-based organizations within the City and County of Sacramento to provide public art elements for the Highway 99 Clean California State Beautification & Safety Improvement Project. Local artists will create steel art panels at five locations along the 9-mile project.

Community members are invited to provide input to the artists as they consider designs to highlight the unique communities of South Sacramento. The Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association (SCNA) along with the Oak Park Neighborhood Association, and the Franklin Neighborhood Development Corp. invite you to provide input and meet artist Kent Smith.

The design is to depict what is unique to our neighborhoods and/or what unique values we hold to, or something else symbolic.

The final products will be on the sound walls adjacent the 8th Ave. (east side) and 21st Ave. (east and west sides) pedestrian over-crossings, and on the southbound 12th Ave. exit.
