July 15 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 12:30 pm on day Third of the month, repeating indefinitely
Head Space focuses on mental health wellness and well-being, and introduces lifestyle changes aimed at improving one’s mood.
12:30 – 2:00 p.m. in Room 12
Fees: See below
This monthly class offers a place for older adults to come together and discuss their own mental health struggles or concerns, ask questions, and hear from others who may have experienced the same things.
Each session of Head Space is individually designed and consists of pertinent information, relating topics to their influence on mental health. We aim to remove the stigma attached to mental health issues through open dialogue among peers. This is designed as a twelve-part series, so attendance is encouraged for all sessions, but not required.
Instructor Kate is our former Sacramento State intern-turned-graduate of the Gerontology program, who designed Head Space as part of her capstone graduation project. She will begin her MSW (Social Work Master’s program) at Sacramento State in this fall.
July 15th: The Exercise Edition – RSVP Here!
Join in an informative discussion session about how exercise benefits our mental health as much as it benefits our physical health, if not more! We will talk about how simple additions or amendments to our current routines can help to improve our cardiovascular health and our head space. Participants may share their personal exercise habits, and what works and doesn’t for their lifestyles, so come join in the discussion!
Next Up: The Leisure Edition (August 19th)
We all know a vacation can be good for us, but this class will teach how to get the most out of more simple leisure activities! We will discuss what easy, relaxing things we can do to help our head space on a daily basis, and improve mental health over time. This will help round out our summertime R&R goals, and we can discuss how to maintain that relaxed head space even after our vacations end.
Please RSVP for class by calling 916-455-6339, or emailing the instructor, Kate, at KLauter@Sierra2.org
