June 17 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 12:30 pm on day Third of the month, repeating indefinitely
Head Space focuses on mental health wellness and well-being, and introduces lifestyle changes aimed at improving one’s mood.
12:30 – 2:00 p.m. in Room 12
Fees: See below
This monthly class offers a place for older adults to come together and discuss their own mental health struggles or concerns, ask questions, and hear from others who may have experienced the same things. Each session of Head Space is individually designed and consists of pertinent information relating topics to their influence on mental health. The program aims to remove the stigma attached to mental health issues through open dialogue among peers. This is designed as a twelve-part series, so attendance is encouraged for all sessions, but not required.
Instructor Kate is our former Sacramento State intern-turned-graduate of the Gerontology program, who designed Head Space as part of her capstone graduation project. She will begin her MSW (Social Work Master’s program) at Sacramento State in this fall.
June 17th: The Stress Edition
Join in an informative discussion session about how stress can negatively impact our mental health in many ways. Learn coping strategies, and hear from your peers on how they deal with major and minor stressors. We all deal with stress of some kind, come participate in alleviating the negative effects on your Head Space.
Next Up: The Leisure Edition
We all know a vacation can be good for us, but this class will teach how to get the most out of more simple leisure activities! We will discuss what easy, relaxing things we can do to help our head space on a daily basis, and improve mental health over time.
