Friday, February 14th Schedule
Zumba Toning // 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. // Studio 3
Instructor Kelly Pineda teaches this great dance-based class. She is very accommodating with limitations, and patiently teaches the steps needed to get a really great workout. Zumba Toning is specially designed for older adults and is not as demanding as some other Zumba classes, but Kelly guarantees to get your heart rate up, and your body moving!
Mat Pilates // 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. // Studio 2
Instructor Om will teach the basics of proper posture and form, as you ease into beginning mat Pilates exercises. This popular class is safe, low-impact and great for just about every fitness level! Pilates has been proven to strengthen the core, boost balance, and improve posture! Bring a yoga mat, and meet one of our newest instructors, Om!
Creative Writing Workshop // 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // Room 9
This workshop aims to improve your writing skills, so you can write a romantic ditty to a special someone, or perhaps a love poem to yourself! If you have found yourself wishing to be a better writer, this workshop is for you. This class will use a unique variety of prompts for getting your creative juices flowing. Instructor Brandy Tuzon Boyd studied Journalism and Creative Writing at Mills College, and is looking forward to inspiring her love of writing in you!
Lunch is Served // 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. // Room 10
Vegetarian menu is to be determined and is generously provided by Eskaton Monroe Lodge.
Pinochle // 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. // Room 12
Sit down for a game of pinochle, a fun trick-taking card game. New to the game? Come join the newbies table to learn the rules, scoring, strategy & more. This weekly group always has room for more players, so try it out at Free Friday, and get hooked!
Open Art Studio // 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Room 11
Join us for fun art projects which range from coloring to drawing to jewelry making — participants are encouraged to bring their own projects from home to work on in a friendly, creative, and inclusive environment.
Love Birds Watercolor Workshop // 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. // Room 7
Unleash pure fun & creativity while adding a little color to your life with paint! Instructor and artist Tonja Wilcox will guide participants in creating what your heart guides you to make. Perhaps you will create your own pair of love birds? Use your doodle skills to make your own wall art or custom greeting cards! The artistic influence is all your own, with the professional, talented, and skilled assistance of Tonja.
Heart Space // 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Room 9
Join Head Space instructor and Program Assistant, Kate, for a yummy, healthy dessert, and a mini-lesson on self-love and self-care. Valentine’s Day is often a day where we show our love to others, and this class will help us to show love to ourselves, too! Kate will discuss the physical and psychological benefits of self-care, offer some self-love tips, and open the discussion up so you can share how you show yourself love!

How We Do It
These events are made possible through generous sponsorship by local businesses and organizations. This partnership allows us to pay our instructors, purchase supplies, provide nutritious meals, and be able to welcome all older adults into our community.
Thank you to Eskaton Monroe Lodge for sponsoring November’s event and catering lunch.
Eskaton is the gold standard of senior care and we’re proud to partner with them. Their wide variety of services provides something for everyone, including independent living services to assisted living, from memory care to skilled nursing, and from short-term stays to affordable housing.
Eskaton has also supported the Sierra 2 Senior Center’s programs and events in the past.
May & August 2019’s events were sponsored by the Advisory Committee of the Ethel Hart Mutual Endowment Fund
