Artist Interview with Dania Lukey

Why do you craft/make? How did you learn?

I believe using handmade objects everyday enriches your life and provides an opportunity to connect with yourself and with one another. I began learning ceramics while finishing my MA in Education: Arts in Education at Sac State.

What is your favorite product or piece you’ve made lately?

This season I’ve added a new shape to my luster series of bowls, mugs, vases, etc. The form has a beautiful gentle curve that accentuates the gold sparkle when the light hits it.

What sorts of things are inspiring you right now? Where do you look for inspiration?

My eyes and mind open are always open as I move through the day. Nature plays a big part in my inspiration: not just visually, but the experience when I’m in the Sierras.

Are you bringing/selling anything special at the craft fair?

Of course!

The holidays put me in the mood to….

Get hygge with a dash of lagom!

Favorite holiday movie?

F-R-A-G-I-L-E ! (enough said)

All I want for Christmas is…?

Good will & good wine 😉
