City kids exhibit at the Sacramento County Fair just like their rural counterparts who show off their animals through 4H. Only in the city, thanks to Sacramento County Fair Board, city youngsters can have a wheelbarrow garden to show off. And the materials are free. Entry deadline for first timers is March 1 with a workshop on the same day.
Curtis Park neighbor Coby Turner of Marshall Way flagged this opportunity from her position as a director for the 52nd District Agricultural Association. The fair this year is May 25-29. The Farm Garden in a Wheelbarrow program is open to grades K-6. The program also provides learning materials about gardening and lesson plans. The minimum group size is 8.
